On-site waste water treatment

If a building is not connected to a sewer network, its domestic wastewater must be treated with other methods.

Oulu has world-leading expertise in building-specific wastewater purification systems. Green Rock is one of these experts.

Green Rock has a dream...

Green Rock has a dream that one day everyone in the world will have access to enough clean water for their daily needs.

The biological wastewater purification units manufactured by Green Rock Oy employ Trickling Filter technology. This method is based on aeration of water on permanent growth substrates and thereby removal of organic material and nutrients. This method of aerating water is similar to what happens in nature. The difference is that instead of evaporation, the water is raised with a pump. Among the advantages of this method compared with the generally used activated sludge technique are less sludge formation and better tolerance of load variation. Ekoteko chemical dosage consists of feeding precipitation chemicals into the septic tank via a drain inside of a building. This method allows the septic tank to function more efficiently, as the aluminum-based precipitation chemical binds both soluble phosphorous and solid materials, thereby reducing the load on biological treatment.

Combining these two technologies results in a biological-chemical process that permits the use of technically simple, inexpensive equipment for treating wastewater in sparsely populated areas.
