Energy Agency of North Ostrobothnia Project

Energy Agency of North Ostrobothnia is a regional development project funded by the Council of Oulu Region (ERDF, 70 %) and local municipalities and enterprises (30 %). The project is carried out during 2008-2010 by Finnish Forest Research Institute, Muhos Research Unit.

The goals of the project are based on the energy policy of the European Union and the national energy programmes. Goals to be put into action: 

  • increasing the use of renewable energy sources
  • self-sufficiency of energy production
  • establishing distributed energy production
  • energy efficiency and saving

 

Some examples of the means of developing the energy area:

  • networking partners in the energy field
  • organizing seminars, workshops and supporting the establishment of new projects
  • providing independent information
  • starting the energy forum of North Finland
  • collecting data of energy economics and creating energy balances
  • informing municipalities about energy efficiency agreements and programmes
